Thank you so much for a wonderful morning spent on Maddie Too. It was a fantastic surprise for my husband and he said it was his best birthday gift yet.
The weather was glorious, the lessons in sailing were amazing and the food was delicious. The children had a blast and keep asking me when they can go back on 'their' yacht! We are looking forward to another trip out on the lake soon we hope.
Again many thanks for a wonderful time, it was fun and informative.......

One of the best experiences I have had in a long time! I was quite surprised at how much fun dining with strangers could be.
As part of a package deal when staying at Blenheim Lodge, we were picked up by John and taken out for the night on his fantastic boat. John is a brilliant guy and I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
My partner and I hope to visit John again in the summer!.

Thank you again for a lovely morning last week. Hope you can use this for promotion
Freezing cold, not much wind, but what a day! The views of the fells around the north shores of Windermere were clear, snowy and spectacular. We saw lots of waterfowl, cormorants and buzzards. The sailing was fun and John, as well as being the epitome of charm, is informative and instructive. The boat is beautiful, the food excellent and just what was needed on a cold January day (home made veg soup, bacon butties and John's mum's teabread).
We loved it and will repeat the experience, hopefully on a warmer windier day.
Best wishes, Alison and Andrew(Horatio) Kirkham

A truly memorable evening for
our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We
were collected on our doorstep,
boarded Maddie Too and sailed around
Windermere. We were exceptionally
lucky with the weather after it
having rained all day we then enjoyed
a beautiful sunny evening accessing
inlets hidden from many.
John our Skipper/host/chef/wine
connoisseur/entertainer/chief bottle
washer etc cooked up a delicious
5 star, 5 course meal. We ended
the evening sailing by a glorious
sunset over the lake. We booked
this as a treat which we couldnt
really afford but did it anyway!
It was worth every penny and we
would love to go again one day!
Thank you so much!!

On
our first day in Bowness, someone
on the foot ferry, on the way over
recommended that we look up Sail ‘n’ Dine.
On our way back to Hawkeshead, waiting
for us was a leaflet.
For somebody to
take that much effort to recommend
something, we thought that we ought
to try.
So
we called John – we
had a problem because the foot ferry’s
last service was at 5.30pm and wouldn’t
be able to get back. Straight away,
John made it easy for us by offering
to drive us home after. There then
followed a couple of days of working
round the weather and other bookings – we
felt like we already knew John by
the time we met him on the jetty.
And
so onto the boat, and out onto
the Lake. We were accompanied by
another couple who we had never
met before – Graham
and Elaine.
Dave
and Graham both took turns in sailing
the boat - Elaine
and I were quite happy relaxing and
taking in Windermere . We sailed
into the wind, tacked and generally
had a lovely time out on the water.
The
weather was about to turn, and
rather than take any risks, John
took us back to port where we went
below deck for dinner – as
much as it was lovely sailing, it
was a little windy and getting chilly
, so this was most welcome! John ‘battened
down the hatches’, turned on
the heating and it was toasty.
It’s very
cosy down there, and comfortable.
The wine was poured (over and over)
and conversation began – and
between the 4 of us, plus John, there
were no awkward silences and we had
a really lovely time – football
was the hot topic of conversation
( Graham for Everton and Dave for
Chelsea ) but also holidays
( camping in particular) and rubber
gloves and magic oven liners from
Lakeland ! J
The
menu is very clever – it has something for
everyone on there – all good
quality produce, cooked really well
and presented beautifully. Starter,
Main Course, Dessert (the chocolate
mousse is to die for) and a fantastic
local cheese board with port and
coffee to finish. The experience
was like having a wonderful meal
round at a friends’ house.
As I said at the end of the meal
to Elaine – ‘you wouldn’t
have kicked your shoes off and have
your legs curled up on the sofa at
the end of a meal in a restaurant!’
Sadly,
it was then time to go home. Into
John’s
4 wheel drive which whizzes round
the windy roads of Windermere and
Ambleside with ease.
I
would recommend this experience
to anyone – it
is something very different, but
also very very enjoyable.

Dear
John (skipper)
On
behalf of my new wife and I, we would
like to thank you for a wonderful
Honeymoon evening with Sail 'n' Dine.
It was a very tranquil and romantic
setting watching the sunset, with
such fantastic views over the lake.
It was the perfect location to be
wined and dined aboard Maddie Too.
With such tasteful menu options your
cuisine was second to none. Once
again thankyou for your hospitality
and we look forward to our next Sail
'n' Dine.

Of
course, if you have the money, you could
own your own yacht on Windermere and,
like so many other owners, become a jetty-based
sailor and visit it twice or three times
a year!
Alternatively,
you can visit beautiful Bowness, meet
up with your superb host, John Haworth,
board his luxury yacht and be treated
to four hours of sailing and eating
for a fraction of the cost and get
much more enjoyment to boot!
That’s
exactly what my family and myself did
on a Saturday evening in late spring
2008.
We
met Captain John at the Ship in Bowness
and were led the few yards to the marina
where we boarded his beautiful yacht.
Once out in the middle of Windermere,
we cut the engine and set sail. Oh! The
peace!
There
is nowhere on earth quite like the peace
of Windermere on a balmy evening under
sail.
We
chatted and enjoyed a glass of wine (or
two!) before mooring in a secluded part
of this vast stretch of water, whereupon
Captain John becomes chef and host John
and cooks up a superb meal with some
very good wines and we enjoy the convivial
atmosphere of dining aboard a luxury
yacht without the tedium of having to
wash up and sail ourselves back.
A
splendid evening and four hours of your
life has gone as if a mere few minutes! – but
what enjoyment.
We
will certainly be going back.
It’s
like having your own yacht but with no
strings (or ropes) attached (if you will
pardon the pun!)
Well
done John, God Bless you and all who
sail in your lovely vessel!
