Because of the number of friends wishing to join us on John's Sail 'N' Dine evening we booked to have two evenings on board. Friends on the first night and... read more family on the second night. John went north one night and south the second night and regaled us with facts and figures plus a bit of gossip about the superb properties that border the lake.
He is a great host, has a great memory for names and is just superb company. Although we have sailed with him on many occasions he still manages to make every evening a different one with good food and conversation peppered with much laughter.
Don't just think about going - Book it - but make it early as he gets booked up quickly ... but it is well worth the wait.

We didn’t know what to expect as we had been bought this experience as a gift, John approached us at the meeting point on a grey drizzly morning, after asking... read more our names the next question was “have you got waterproofs? to which we answered no, anyhow we could only get wet. We followed John down to the yacht and he put up a canopy and dried off the seating area for us, we boarded and off we set for a private tour of Windermere, John is very knowledgeable about the area and told us so much, you get to see things from the water you never would normally, and he has lots of nuggets of info he shares. We both had a go at piloting the yacht which was very enjoyable, after around an hour and a half we dropped anchor and John served us with a lovely drop of Merlot which we enjoyed whilst he prepared lunch. We were invited below deck to enjoy a lovely medley of local foods, and some of his and his mums homemade delights, a very nice fruit loaf to finish, followed with a nice cup of coffee. All the while the conversation flowed very easily and the time passed by, up with the anchor and back to the marina with my wife Gill at the wheel, John took over to park us up, overall it was a much better experience than we envisaged and we would recommend this to anyone, if you get the opportunity just book with John you won’t regret it!
